Default anyone have a way to relieve stress?

well long story short last night i had a stress/Anxiety attack. i thought i was having a heart attack. I had a situation come up where my mother in law totally disrespected my wife (her daughter) right in front of my face. i am talking my wife looked like a beat puppy that was about to cry and she begged me not to do anything! the problem was i had it all bottled up inside as i stood there and my wife was holding my hand so tight so i wouldnt say anything! it was so botled up that by the time i got home i lost it! my whole left side of my body went numb, i had electric shocks running threw my head, my left high felt like it was going to pop out of my head. I called the doctor and he meet me at the office and told me that i wasn't having a heart attack i was having a stress attack. So basically he told me i need to go home today and relax and stay relaxed for the weekend. so besides working on your cars what else do you guys do to relieve stress?

Shoot pistols! Big ones! In your case, you might need to run a few hundred copies of the MIL's face so you'll have enough targets. I find Obama works best for me most of the time!

Walking ,playing on my tractor ,splitting firewood ,or cruising in the Chevelle with the top down all work for me . Walking is a really good stress reliever though and Joan and I try to walk in a new subdivision near our home everyday .Stress kills ,so take care of yourself .

Shaun, I give you a lot of credit for holding it together. I would probably have blown up, or told her "My mother always told me, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all".

I think you need to relieve some of this stress by talking to your wife. You said that she "she begged me not to do anything! ". This is causing stress in YOUR home, with your wife. You need to come to some kind of understanding with your wife as to how to handle your Mother-in-law or the stress is never going to go away. I am sorry, I have been where you are, and I had to actually deal with the mother-in-law from hell. In my case it wasn't pretty, but ultimately she knew I was not going away.

I wish you the best.

That is one of many reasons I dont have any more contact with my real family that is not absolutely necessary ,they always find a way to stress me out over things that dont even matter .Im better off without them as I have my car family that actually cares about us versus these other people that are jealous because I have better moral fiber than they do.Whatever it takes for you to get the stress off you ,by all means do it.,it very well may save your life. My wife had a stress induced heart attack about 7 years ago and I almost lost her ,I try to shield her from as much stress as possible .

Like John said walking or a good workout. Physical activity helps a lot. Don't stress the things you have no control over. It's hard to do but I've learned over the years to let it go and focus on my life and family.

It sounds like you have a plan. Riding the scoot always made me smile. Nothing but the sound of exhaust and wind. It's just about as peaceful as you can get in my opinion.

Gun range always helps me, as does exercise.
