Default why i have been so quite lately :) pics and videos inside!

so my uncle and i found a 69 camaro in uconn country last year and he fell in love! my uncle stopped the car knocked on the door and offered him $4000 the guy said deal and we towed it home. My uncle is not very mechanical but he loved this car. So he took it to the shop and they did everything to it. i dont have the old pictures but know it was a good solid car but needed some work. So he said he didnt want to make it a matching numbers car because it was a 327. and he wanted a bigger motor so he went to a machine shop in NYC and they had a freshly built 355 and he bought it. he got the car home in sept and i helped him get the motor and trans in. we took it to a dyno day and we almost cried when we saw 172hp 213 tq. we knew we had something wrong because they guy at the machine shop told us it was a 350hp to the flywheel motor. So we went home and we said ok lets start over lets figure out what we did wrong. so we got tired of it because we couldnt figure out why it had no real power. like it had no get up and go. so we took it to a pro today

we ordered (Well he ordered) the door panels but they didnt show up yet. but they are on the way

ok so here is the story. we got the car to the dyno and we showed him our old dyno sheet and he was like WTF is that...lol so we did a baseline run
http://youtu.be/qzh24d1nQoc

first run made 215hp on the dyno but the tuner said something is not right right off the bat.

so after he looked under the hood he said i knew it. you are not getting full throttle. so he adjusted it and here is the second pull.
http://youtu.be/kRWrgUpvrCI

for some reason it only made 205 hp now..lol it was running SO RICH it wasnt even funny.

so he started to adjust the timing to find the sweet spot because it was still running really choppy and rough so once we got it running to what we thought was a good spot and the air fuel was getting better. the timing was set to 38* i was kind of shocked to see that and the tuner was alittle shocked as well. so we gave it a run

http://youtu.be/bMyU3GKI1uo

man did that timing wake that baby up! power went to 282!

My friend bought a dyno to do emissions tests at his shop. I asked if I could put my '83 Olds Cutlass on it. Mind you, it's a light duty dyno that was never intended to run high horse stuff on it. It just has enough capacity to run emissions tests on. Well, I hit it. 350 to the wheels on the engine and I broke it when I hit the 150 shot of nitrous. He was NOT happy.

It was under warranty since it was a week old, but he was still pissed his brand new dyno was down already. The Olds ran pretty good though.

Alan, isn't that what friends are for ? I hope you bought him a beer to ease the pain.
