Default new to the site with a 70' malibu

Hello all. I am mike, i live in elgin ill and own a 70' malibu that was inherited to me when my father passed away. Not only is this car special to me because it was my father's but was the very first car my mom and dad bought new right after they got married in 1969 so i am proud to say this car is a one owner car. I grew up around this car and saw a lot of changes through the years from being a stock 350 two barrel to what it is today a 600+ hp 406 that went 11.20 in a1/4 with 42 yo suspension (which will be changed this winter). The car is currently 80% restored but my plan is to keep it streetable and enjoy driving it with a couple passes down the 1320.

Thumbs up

Welcome, great story behind the origins of the car. Something I wish my folks would have done, hung onto at least one of the new cars they bought new.

Oops. REDLIGHT!!!

Nice car. I had a red '70 malibu many moons ago. It was just a stock 6 cylinder car I dumped a stock 350 into when I lost two cylinders in the six. Welcome to the site!

Thank you. My dad passed in may of 2010, the car was sitting in a garage for 10 years when i pulled it out on fathers day of 2012 with plans of getting it back running to just drive. When i could not get the engine running i made a decision of stripping down my low 10 second s10 and put the monster 406 in the chevelle. I had made the best decision cuz this is a very fun car to drive

I loved the video and what a great way to honor his memory of your dad by getting it running and driving .

Welcome Mike. I wish the video's had "smell" with them. Made me miss the smell of burning rubber. Great story about the car, and I am sure you had some great memories with your mom and dad in the car.
