It is an email discussion I've been having with someone that has a Jeep for sale for $2300. It appeared on a search result through hank's helper, which is a search engine compiler for vehicles for sale. The ad looked like it was local at first, and it turns out the seller is in Vegas. I quickly sent anemail inquiring if it was still for sale and got this...

So, you tell yahoo that you want it, they contact seller, seller has it shipped (on his own coin) to you for test drive/inspection, pending approval. If you like it, pay yahoo, and seller sends title etc. If you don't like it, send it back at the seller's expense. All this shipping happens in enclosed haulers. I've shipped a vehicle before & it has to be at least a grand per thousand miles, or more with the current cost of fuel.
I've just never heard of this, and it sounds awfully fishy. |

That's what I figured. Thanks.
By the way, I posted this on "the other site" too, because I want a few opinions. Last edited by Highway Star; 01-13-2010 at 12:58 PM. |

Shipping, possibly both ways, on his dime sounds fishy. Especially since the jeep is only $2300.

Third party is almost always a scam. Run, don't walk away from that.

Jake, it's a SCAM:
http://blogs.cars.com/safe/payment_shipping_scams/ Among others listed there, slide on down the page to the Yahoo part and you'll see the same words listed in your Scam Deal. Dan
