Went to a car show today, only 12 cars showed up out of the 50 that had signed up. I have car shows the next 2 weekends to be at. Next week is our club show and the following weekend is my brother inlaws show that I helping also with. Next Friday I'm getting the pinion seal replaced and a front end alignment check done on the car before I drive it much more.

Had the windshield and rear window pulled the other day. Started cleaning the 50 lbs of crap from the pinch weld area. Some urethane, some butyl and some mystery goop, what a mess.

I used Butyl only with no urethane. I also had to use a special pinch weld primer before using the Butyl. No mess

A good glass shop won't use butyl to set a windshield. It's not approved and if the windshield pops out in an accident and someone follows it out of the car you can sue them if they did use butyl. From what I found Chevy did not use butyl on these cars although many people think they did. They used some type of adhesive and a cloth covered damn, maybe even butyl inside, to keep the adhesive from squeezing out where it's visible. Don't recall the name of products they used, that was over a year ago. A lot of the info was from guys that worked in the assembly plants back in the day.

A lot of people do use butyl rope and if the window pops out that's probably the least of your problems. Just stating what I found in my research.
