Default Tie rod problems

I just installed a complete new front end on my 67 chevelle from PST, now when I try to alighn my tires to go straight I can't get them to work. When I set one straight then the other is pointing outward, and there is no adjustment left in the tie rod ends. The tie rod ends are butted up against each other in the adjusting sleeve. I wonder if I have the wrong tie rods? If I measure them, from the grease sert center on the top to the end of the threads its a little less than 9 inches.....and of course I dont have the old ones.... would appreciate any help cause I am stumped... dont want to start cuttin them shorter....... thanks larry

You might have later tie rods... 68+ cars were an inch wider.
