Have a friend looking to buy this 69 SS RS. I'm thinking we can work the price a bit but to me its not completly out of line. What do you guys think? I have some pics I can post tomorrow. And yes I know I need to find out about documentation and all that stuff, owner hasn't got back to my friend yet. http://maine.craigslist.org/cto/3562744058.html

That seems like a good price for that car. Look at the trim tag. A real SS car will have the X11 designation. I THINK, the RS/SS is X22, either that, or X22 is a Z28. I can't remember off hand. Anyway, check the usual stuff. Fitment of interior pieces, how well the engine was installed, blah, blah, blah.
$15K for a first gen RS/SS is a pretty good deal if it's a real one. Basket cases out this way are pulling $5K.

X33 & X77 are Z28, X66 is the designation for a big block. Price seems within reason. Everything has gone nuts over the past decade. Check it over real good for hidden rust or bad repairs. Make sure of what is there... glass, trim, brackets, etc. That stuff can really nickle and dime you. I think I would start somewhere around $10K - $11K and see where the negotiations go.
Here is a good break down of the cowl tag... http://www.camaros.org/diffs69.shtml

Talked to the owner. Turns out its an original 350 car, green on green and non ss rs car, so yes a clone. Even with a crate 454 with new parts and all body work just about done what this car worth? Was thinking 10k. I'm close with a body man so I can get it painted mint with no shortcuts for under 5k and interior done by another friend for no charge. I just don't want to see my buddy get screwed on this deal so need to come up with a good ballpark to offer.
I don't know how to post pics but can send them to someone's email by my phone.

$10K or $11K is fair.

I owned a 69 Base Camaro for 15 years sold it about 9 years ago for $17,000 not matching #'s but just a nice street cruiser, show car with a built up 350, 4 speed, and 4:10 12 bolt rear end.

The market was MUCH better nine years ago.
Beautiful car, by the way.
