Default What my day was like?....shit

Started early this morning. Guy has an ad on Craigs list for estate an sale. Many tools, tool boxs, car parts, and so on. Drive over there, no signs anywhere and he didn't put his address in the ad. Go to another one that is supposed to have all kinds of mechanic tools. Same deal, nowhere to be found. Get back home, Kathy has a new 7 month Germsan Shepard pup. Said pup jumped on back of couch, climbed half-wall, traveled 15 feet along wall to get to plate of cat food. Slipped at the kitchen sink, snapped the spout off the faucet, hit the single handle on-off lever, and it stayed on. Water all over hell, but the bulk of it went down the drain. I spent 4 hours working on it, taking 3 old ones apart to get parts to fix this one. Ended up soldering an old diverter valve assembly to the broken one. Finally got it to seal up. Kathy takes a shower around 4, before we go out to eat dinner. Says water won't shut off. Tear the thing down. Broken quad seal. Hit the local hardware, no parts for Delta "Scald-Guard" faucet. Go to 3 other HW stores, same thing. The one that I was going to in Clio is closed up. New Wal-mart store at the other end of town. Another mom and pop store gone. I end up making a center push-rod tube seal from a Shovelhead Harley work. Pup tore the house up while we were gone. Wonder just how good that cat food she got tasted?

I love dogs but only on the outside ,no more inside dogs for me .Sorry to hear about your day though ,sounds like my kind of luck. By the way ,ACE Hardware (around here anyway) is the best place for faucet parts .

Tony so sorry to hear about your day. It is so hard watching all the mom and pop stores closing down. Just found out a couple days ago that the Hiller's in Berkley is closing. I know that they have built some huge mega grocery stores, but the one in Berkley was a small store that has been a staple for over 30yrs.

flash, we have ACE Hardware here, but a lot of them have gone away with the huge Home Depot's and Lowe's. And in some locations they are side by side, ridiculous. And in Flint, things are tough and I am sure Tony has seen quite a few closures over the past couple years.

Miss those mom and pop places. I will pay more just to go in there and support the people who are trying to make it.

I am with you on this mostly. Certain small breeds just cannot live outdoors. (my ex had Pugs) Her male was always good indoors. The female, I got her as a 10 week old puppy, was an uphill battle for several months. But, that made me happy - because it got her to shut up and stop talking to me about marriage and children. That little dog ruined her world and made her cry daily. It was worth every penny to teach her a lesson. (That she was nowhere near ready to be a mother)

Damn, I got nothing to compare with that, just a normal day. Sorry your's was shit Tony. Note, I won't buy another Delta product, only Moen from now on.

We have to keep the cat food up too, our Annie will eat anything she can get in her mouth. Fortunately she's never damaged any furniture, etc.

Wow!

I've had bad days too, but that's one for the books. I guess you'll appreciate the good days a little more now.

Funny story, got a little chuckle out of that.Gotta love dogs, thousands and thousands of damage over the years, but they are worth it.When my Collie was a puppy, she chewed through the front bumper of my wife's new Mercedes,no one has come close to that one,yet......

Word of advise Tony, when you have plumbing issue, call a plumber and not a pipe fitter. This was told to me by a friend only a couple of weeks ago over burned Hotdogs and beer.
