Default Family Dog not doing well

Our Border Collie Annebelle, 12 years old took a turn down hill last night and has been at the vets all day today and conitunes to decline. She is 12 years old but has been in good health except for her hips which have some stiffness in them if we run her to much. We are taking her over to the vet hospital tonight so they can keep a close watch on her. They really do not know what is wrong with her at this point. Been my wife's dog (so she says), but she likes to hangs with me most of the time in the garage. I know this has really been hard on my wife, especially with everything else that has been going on in our home lately. Since the kids are all gone the dog gets to go everywhere we do these days.
