That trans has sat around for a while since it was rebuilt.
I'm wondering if now that it finally has fluid in it, seals and all will swell/loosen and it will work as it supposed to. Tranny fluid is high in detergent. I believe the tranny guys use some type of assembly lube or petroleum jelly to hold the check balls in place. That lube may have dried out. If not, I'll gladly refund your $$$
