Found it.
S***
no laughing!!!!!

The bracket thingie that guides the parking brake cable inside the frame was upside down. It had been stuck for who knows how long. Then it came loose and flopped back under power. Under braking it would right itself but couldn't hit the frame because it was sliding over the cable. Took it off, righted it, and voilą ---- no more bang.
That only took three days on the rack and $400

So check your thingie if you have a bang

Thanks
Randy

Sorry Randy but I had to laugh a little. Glad you found it and it wasn't a major problem.

Did you need the 12 pack and flashlight to find it or just the 12 pack.Funny how in the end it always seems to be the simplest things you overlook.

I thought his rear quarter was going to fall off or he would see the the rear end in the rear view mirror. Now he tells us it's a bracket thingie for a cable.

Okay, Hank. Now you're down to a hamburger and a warm glass of water.

Okay, we'll just call it even. Actually not sure why you would owe me anything in the first place. You have to admit, after all you went through then find out it's cable bracket, hook, whatever, is kind of funny. Well at least it is to me.

I laughed too. About an hour after it was fixed. What was it Buford T. Justice said?
Sumbitch......

God it feels good to drive my car again without the anticipation of the bang.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I hope somebody gets some good out of my experience. (everybody but Hank-- he laughed) LOL

Thanks,
Randy
