You always want to try and keep as much original metal as possible and only cut out what's rusted away. I cut back far enough to get to good solid metal so the two pieces can be butt welded together.

This is my first attempt at doing floors like this, but I learned it all from the internet and reading the good old muscle car mag. LOL

If you can find it the August 2010 "Floor Dance" article in the Muscle Car Review mag is top notch and incredibly educational.
