Amazing what losing 100 cubes and a big double pumper carb will do for gas mileage. This 396 with the Qjet used about 1/3 of what I would have burned with last year's engine.
Funny thing is, I picked up 141 cubes and GAINED mpg on the highway compared to the small-block! I managed 16 mpg doing 80+ on the way back from Columbus last weekend on the motors break-in run! Completely blew me away! I am sure city will be another story...

Yeah, I was at the speed shop tinkering on my car again. The thing keeps throwing alternator belts so I finally made the decision to ditch the March bracket and go with the factory set up (just don't like how it looks.) Should have nearly everything wrapped up by the end of this week, including A/C so I will be ready to hit the local shows again!

John,

I have a storage bin with two complete brake & spindle assemblies ready to go. I'll plan on bringing them to the Peach State show unless you decide you want them before.

Took my clutch fan over to my motor today so we can fire it one more time before putting it back in the car. Plan to paint the motor next week.

Haven't touched it in weeks. I am off all weekend, and we just got a nice cold front tonight. I see myself getting back to work on it tomorrow.

I pulled off the aluminum intake I put on 2 years ago. I'm putting the original stock cast iron intake back on. I also pulled the sub boxes out of the trunk. I decided to put the trunk back to stock.
