What? It's -9 now and your about 25 miles north of me and how did you 19.5" of snow? Highest reported total I saw was 18" in Eaton Rapids, 17" in Flint.

Okay, you left out some words in your post, lay off the Coke. Maybe you meant warmer where Ken is than in Fenton.

Do I look like a weather man? I just report what I read in our local paper. My measurements show 22" but that is on my deck. It was -17 when I left for work. Oh by the way, you are only 18 miles away...but then I don't expect you to be a GPS unit....ha

So in conclusion, we have a shit load of snow and it's colder than hell and it takes less than a tank of gas to your house.



By the way guys, this is from Hell Michigan which is in the same county that Hank and I live in...I don't want to guess the distance as I would be wrong anyway.....ha

Mapquest says Hell is 22.26 miles from my house. That's probably wrong though since it says Fenton is 22.34 miles not 18 miles.

They still haven't plowed the our side streets. We live in a township so the county is responsible for our roads. They just showed on the news some freeways closed, police forcing cars off because they're a sheet of ice. The snow has been cleared off, just ice left now, too cold for salt to do anything.

WOW guys and gals ,I dont know how you do it ,that is a massive amount of snow to keep moving around .And the cold is another thing altogether ,I could not do it .It is bitter cold here and we just had snow flurries ,none sticking .We are down to 11 degrees so far ,expecting to be around 7 by morning with high winds .I spent a good part of today hauling firewood in from the pasture on my tractor ,Im still not warm yet .

We are at 41 and party cloudy, with rain coming in tomorrow. I'm flying to Florida tomorrow but with all the delays and cancellations I hope things go smoothly. I layover in Phoenix Az to avoid the cold weather on the east coast during the winter. Glad I decided to do that 6 months ago when I purchased the tickets.

John 11* in Georgia? I heard they all ready canceled school for tomorrow in Atlanta. You guys got furnaces/central heat that will keep up with that cold? Here most homes have furnaces that will maintain the heat up to 10 or 20 below. Wouldn't think they planned for such cold temps down there in Georgia. Stay warm, stay safe.

Just have to wait now and hope our son makes it home from work safely. Traded in the Chevy Z71 last summer so I couldn't even get out of here to help him if he needed it. Maybe I should have kept the pickup, of course 2 cars, pickup, Chevelle and motor home is overkill for 2 people.

Can't image how many frozen pipes there will be. I know the pipes are buried deeper then here, we only bury our water lines 2 feet down max. The snow can act as an insulator keeping the ground from freezing to deep. Everyone take care during this cold weather snap and be careful if you are traveling around the area.

I believe the frost line here is 42". There will be plenty of frozen water lines under roads that have been cleared, freeze will go a lot deeper with no snow, pavement and the hard packed dirt. We have a well and the line comes into the basement about 5' below grade, that plus close to 20" of snow on the ground we should be okay. Can't even see the well head, it's out there somewhere but not visible anymore.

My water meter sits out in a metal box on the front corner of my property...less than 12" down. The water supply line I just had replaced 2 yrs ago is probably 8-10" down. All the houses around here are on a slab.
Got double glass thermo windows in the house, about 3 1/2" of insulation in walls, about 8" in attic. All that mainly for the summer A/C cooling.
Most of the ceilings on 1st floor are 18' high.

I ran the Florida tractor yesterday doing some brush hogging. I shoveled all day today. Sand, not snow. Kathy is having a hell of a time with snow. It is supposed to cool off here for a day or so. Have fun up thereguys.
