When did road rules become suggestions ?

So when did lane lines/markers become suggestions ?
I have been doing a lot of driving lately and it is unbelievable how many people cannot stay in their lane.

When did the left turn lane become a passing lane ?
I was stopped at a light, the light turned green and I accelerated as fast as I could without hitting the car in front of me. Well apparently it wasn't fast enough for the guy behind me cause he used the, clearly marked, left turn lane to pass. Still shaking my head

Are turn signals an option ?
Does anyone use turn signals anymore ? People cut across 3 lanes of traffic without so much as a hint that they are changing lanes. I really wish I could play bumper cars sometimes.

Am I the only one who is fed up with people who don't really understand how to drive offensively ? Why do we always have to be on the defense when driving down the road ? What ticks you off ?

Not using turn signals ,driving in rain without headlights ,tailgating ,lanerangers in the fast lane (Prious)going under the speed limit just for a few.
