Default where do you go to find the history of your car?

I dont know why i was thinking about this last night on the drive home. I was wondering if anyone here as done any research on your chevelle? I was wondering if I could hunt down the first owner of my car and see where it went from there. I would LOVE TO talk to the old owners of the car and understand why they did what they did to the chevelle instead of leaving it as a nice SS. from what i understand back in 68/69 you bought an SS to be an all out street machine. It was not something that someone bought to drive around town. they bought it to go race. I guess because now that i am trying to restore it to a former glory and I am getting frustrated with some of the things removed from the car. I would like to talk to him or her then slap him or her for doing it...lol

but has anyone know where i can get started on this kind of a search?

Dont think its a good idea to dis a former owner of the car you have now. Everyone is their own individual and everyone has their own taste on what they like. Just like you and me.

Now if you would like to get some history on your car, there is a guy over at TC that has a registry going and perhaps he might have your car in there. I cant remember his name right off hand but I'll try and find out.

lol not going to dis him i just would like to know the history of the car and see if i he or she has any old pictures and so on. I would love to share the current photos of the car and so on but just would love to know the history of the car. Like for me when the day comes i will give the next owner all of the pictures and everything receipt i have for the car. Kind of so they know where it has been and where it came from kind of a deal.

When I traced down the guy that had my Camaro before me and mentioned that the XXXXX was not working to him he blasted me on this forum and I'm still not over it and that is why I'm the way I am now.

Even mentioning it now in this thread will get me in trouble,Just watch. So be careful if you find the previous owners.

Searches are almost impossible to do on the web. You have to talk to the last owner you purchased the car from and work backwards. See if he know the where abouts of the person he got the car from. DMV and other agency can not give out any info.

This post got me thinking and I looked at some of the documentation that Tony gave me when I bought the Camaro and found that the original owner had passed away in 1998 at 47 and was in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1972. So I suspect he ordered the car not to long after he was discharged since the car was delivered to him in May 1972.

Also, at looking at the bill of sale he traded in a 1970 Nova SS so I would think he was not in Vietnam during that time.

It is interesting the things you can find online with just a little bit on information.

I also have the name of the guy that Tony bought the car from in 2008 and that guy owned the car since at least May 2005. I also have the name of another owner of the car and found his address and going to mail him a picture of the car and a list of questions that I can hope he can answer...like is he the one that had the car painted. Fun stuff.
