Default Anyone Know Pontiac Engines (301)

Im hoping to get Joan's 1981 Trans Am going this fall and need to gather up some parts .I want to do away with the computer that controls the carb and have been told I will have to get a non computer controlled carb and distributor from another Pontiac .Some say any Pontiac V8 distributor and 4 bbl carb will work but I want to be sure before I start gathering parts .

I looked up a distributor for that car on Summit's web site. It appears any pontiac V8 distributor will work. Which is surprising, the 301's are a low deck engine. The carburetor off anything from that engine family will work as well. I know my dad has a spare 70s Pontaic QJet and I believe a s 68' distributor spare. Doubt he would want much for them if you are interested.

John, my apologies. Asked today, how does $65 shipped sound? (Shipping will most likely be $25-$30 of that)

I love it when a plan comes together. Sounds like it worked out good for all involved.

So glad that you will get that car going. I am sure that Joan is thrilled too.
