Never smoked around her.The wife has been off them for about a month, and I'm down to half a pack a day.It is really getting to be more trouble than it's worth.

Rank, I'm assuming you are a child yourself. There's NO WAY a parent would put up with this much disrespect. You mention the child's humiliation. What about the parents?! Now-a-days, the child thinks they can disrespect the parent with no consequences because of child protection laws. Yes, there are abusers out there. This father tried the grounding thing and it didn't work. You talk about LIFE SKILLS??!! What life skills does she get if allowed to "vent" like this. Do you honestly believe she'll get away with that at a job somewhere? YOU and people like YOU are the problem with this country.

Stay tuned for my video when I do the exact same thing with my daughter's computer with my AK47! (at the gun range of course)

I didn't want to cause such a fuss with posting this video. I was just amazed that someone actually "posted" what they did.

I did show this to my kids, 14, 13 and 11. When it was done, they just sat there looking at the computer. I asked what they thought. My 11 year old told me "Mommy I would never do anything like that", my 14 year old daughter told me "that girls uses a lot of bad language and doesn't love her dad", my 13 year old son said "she has a lot of stuff, she has it all", stuff meaning electronic stuff.

We sat and talked about the video for about 10 minutes. I was really surprised how much they were on the side of the dad, other than they were shocked that he actually shot the computer. They were glad he wasn't there dad.

Im not a parent so I dont know what I would have done and dont agree with the area where he fired the gun as it should have been out away from from everything but otherwise I agree with what he did. I also believe it was his right to see what she had posted on Facebook .I see far too many kids that dont respect their family or anyone else and think they are entitled to every new gadget or gismo out there and are NOT willing to work for anything.

You were probably "amazed" because it is usually not the norm for people to hang their framily laundry out for public viewing. Good to hear the kids point of view.

Interesting points and yes he does have the right to view what she puts out in public on face book ... key words "puts out in public" ... the private stuff he shoulda, coulda, and probably woulda used better judgement if he was a better parent. Maybe having a non-confrontalional conversation with the kid would have worked. He also has right to say "No" if his daughter wants new gizmos, etc as he has the right to restrict her time on the computer. Kids dont come with an intruction book but paren ts have the responsibility to raise them the best they can and this guy shows poor class.

Kids , and this is just a kid, can be developed into fine adults with the help of parents that, although they grit there teeth alot, can work with the childs problems without lowering themselves to the childish and/or hurtful displays of the child they are attempting to mentor. Some kids are strong enough to NOT be the parent that their parents were ... which is were the term "break the circle" comes in.

So what does the daughter do now "to get even"? ... after all getting even seems to be the dad's approach .... video of pop's falling over drunk would surely bring a few hits on youtube! lol

.... or there is always family counseling.

i just showed my wife this video and we both agree with the dad in what he said. do we agree with his actions on shooting the laptop, no only because he could of taken the hard drive out and destroyed it put a new hard drive in it and sell it. We both agree that its time for these kids today to get beatings to get punished! I grew up in a house hold if you did something so wrong that a punishment was to little then yes a beating was in order. we are not talking about abusing our kids but letting them know there is a wrong and a right and if you do wrong there is more then punishment to come. My daughter is 2 and half years old right now and starting to see wrong and right and the other day i was sitting with her and she got upset and she slapped me in the face! i grabbed her hand and slapped it and told her what she did was extremely wrong not only did she get punished for the night before she went to sleep she came to me and said i am sorry daddy! will so do it again? i highly doubt it! that is what i mean by a beating! i am not talking about whips and chains black and blues broken teeth and have to be in a hospital. My wife is a teacher and she teaches 5 year olds and the amount of disrespect she gets and the stories she tells me about 5 year old kids saying f this f that and how they are level 60 in call of duty! where are the parents? who is letting these kids act like that? and why? i know in my house my kids will NEVER act that way and if they do it behind my back they will pay for it! i dont think i would react the same way as this father but i can tell you my parents did it with me! i learned my lessons in life and i am a better man today! my wife grew up the same way and from what her parent told me it only took her one beating and she never wanted that to happen again, she followed all the rules laid before her and her siblings and look how she has turned out! I work in a high school and the kids here are totally off the chain. 95% of them need to be treated the same way this dad is treating or about to treat his child. I say good for him! and i hope more parents stand up and take charge of what kids are doing. maybe the world would be a better place. And Mrs Grumpy i totally agree with you 70s and 80s kids something happened to them. They got soft they didnt realize that a beating and a punishment like that did for them and they went soft on there kids. Now the world has no discipline and they think that they have it hard! I can go on because i have a lot to say about this topic. i am not looking to fight with anyone on here but in the best words ever said
