Hank, with all that you have going on it was nice of you to take time to tell us about your week. Again, I sorry about your mom, but it does sound like you have gotten a lot accomplished while you are down there.

Thanks to all my friends here. Your thought and prayers do help. We have things under control and I'm starting to de-stress some. All the arrangements are done except to pick out the plaque for my mom.

Went to see Veronica, wanted to do that before but mom's passing got in the way. It was good and it was bad. It was good because she was feeling pretty good and was talkative. It was bad knowing what she's been through and what she still has to go through. The cancer has spread to her brain and spinal column. She can't see, pressure in the brain and spinal column cut off the blood supply to her optic nerves. Don't know if her sight will return. She's been trying to get into U of M cancer center but she's not in the system yet. Her mom is supposed to take her to the ER there tomorrow, hopefully that will get her into the system so they can start to help her.

She's on SS disability and medicaid with a mountain of medical bills. Her father passed awhile ago, her mom has had a couple of strokes so they're just making it. Still they're wonderful, pleasant people to be around.

Veronica mentioned that she wished she had a walker with a seat so she could stop and sit when she got tired. Medicaid won't pay for one. I found one on Craigslist right here in Brighton for $50. Picked it up a few hours ago. $50, that's how much they're struggling to get by. Just have to see when I can run it down to Westland for her. She's supposed to go to U of M tomorrow. We have to go to the cemetery on the eastside on Friday to finalize things there.

Please direct your thoughts and prayers to Veronica. Mom's at peace now and we're fine. Veronica and her mom can use all the thoughts and prayers you can spare.

Hank, if I can help you getting it to Westland, I would like to. I live near the Royal Oak area, and I could meet you somewhere and take it to her for you, if that would help. Let me know.

If there is anything else I/we can do to help, please let us know.

Thanks Nancy, that's very kind of you. We should be able to get there over the weekend. It's just a matter of when we can go and when she'll be home. Thanks again.

Veronica's mom did take her to U of M yesterday, they're reviewing her medical records. We've been telling her for 2 years she needs to go to a real hospital. She's been going to Garden City Hospital, a small community hospital. We have Beaumont, Henry Ford, U of M and the Karmanos Cancer Center in the area. I think her mom wanted to stick with Garden City because it's close. Because of the strokes shes had she doesn't like driving on freeways.

Hopefully they'll come up with a plan of treatment. The Drs at Garden City told her there's nothing they can do for her so she has not been getting any treatment for over a month.

Not sure but may be able to get her the walker today. Depends on how long we're at the cemetery. The cemetery and her house are at opposite ends of the city, northeast suburbs to southwest suburbs and we live in the far northwest of the area. Good thing gas prices have dropped.

Hank,
You will make it to drop off the walker because that is just the kind of person you are, you will find a way to make it work. So glad to hear that Veronica's mom did get her to U of M. It is a much better place for her to be than a local hospital. The world renown doctors are sure to find a way to help her, or at least make her more comfortable.

You and your family are still in our prayers.
