Pro Touring 72 Chevelle
My first car - acquired back in March 1987.
Car done. It was a great ride. Check out more at my Google+ picture gallery....
Close up of the custom console. That is a Lokar shifter boot and trim ring that was recessed about 1/8" to clean it up a bit. Looks great.
Rear bumper fits now. Want the whole story? See my Google+ picture album for the horror story. Car had to be cut up AFTER paint. Ouch.
I saved some cash welding up the exhaust myself. This is MIG - I have not braved the TIG yet....
Wiring is getting nearly complete here. Dash was fitted and measured for the Vintage Air plumbing.
Nearly completed engine bay. Just some loose ends to tie up.
Fresh out of paint - March 2013. Time for some assembly.
Restored dash with Metrom dash insert and New Vintage 1969 series gauges.
The GMPP kit for the LS376/480 required the use of an electronic fuel pedal. This is what I had rigged up to mount it against the firewall...
Round two of the body shop.
Engine and T56 mated and ready to stab into the engine bay. This was a few weeks prior to the Car Craft Project Car pics.
Brand spanking new GM LS376/480. My son was 8 when this pic was taken. He was 13 when I finished the car.
A year later - completed chassis. Full GW suspension, Moser 12-bolt with TruTrac diff and 3.90 gears. C5 front hubs with C5 brakes on all 4...
I saw another lister pull their body like this - so I gave it a try. It was remarkably stable and worked like a charm.
Last day for this engine.
First day tearing the car apart. This was Feb 2007 in Clovis, California.
Car Craft Feb 2011 - Project Cars feature. Yep - had to share a page with David Hasselhoff and a Bub Mustang.
Before Resto Dec 2004. Interior was thrashed after 2 years driving in high school and 7 years in college. Yep, 7 years.
Before Resto Dec 2004. That is the old 350/TH350 combo complete with squirrel crap.
Before Resto Dec 2004. This is how it looked when I parked it when I joined the Air Force back in 1997.
