ok so now that i know what distributor i am going to order now i need to know what carb i should run. I am running a 454 in my chevelle its mostly stock. here is the cam spec

the motor is stock compression not sure which motor it is as far as what 454 but my pistons look like this
http://image.superchevy.com/f/techni...top_piston.jpg (not my pistons just found a random pic on the net but those look exactly like my pistons) i was told i needed an 850 with mechanical secondaries i think that is a bit much for a car that is pretty much never going to see about 4000 rpms and never see a drag strip with this motor and trans setup. so what do you guys think? 670 vacuum secondaries? 750 vacuum secondaries? help me figure this out :D

ok so someone just taught me what i need to look for to come up with my calulation of what carb i need and turns out i need a 670 thanks guys!

I'd be looking at a quadrajet if I was you. They are the best of both worlds, economy for cruising, and secondaries the size of texas for when you romp on it.

An old Quadrajet is good option if you can find a decent one. Only problem is the spread bore, if you have an intake with spread bore great. If square bore than Edlebrock or Holly make good crabs. I'd be looking at the 750 cfm range for a 454, vacuum secondaries based on how you plan to use it. You will spin it past 4000 rpm, at least 4500. If you don't then you should have put in a 4 cylinder. :D Seriously, it's hard not to spin past 4000.

i have a 2 4 cylinder(one car one motorcycle), 6 cylinder (my magnum for everyday use)an ls6 (my rx7) and now my 454 so i think i have the best of all worlds and my chevelle will not have a 4 cylinder ;)
