Angry giving UP !!

Well its been raining so much around here. I guess I got a case of the blues. BAD!! So I haven't Drove the Chevelle in a couple of weeks. I was so bad. That I ALMOST put it up 4 $. Not because i couldn't drive it. But it needs a Good paint job. So talking to a friend of mine who does this. I get a price of $10,000 to redue the car. Well thats a fine and good. But too many things in the way. Right now. I want to sell my F150 Super crew. Then put the $$$$ from that into the Chevelle. BUT!! We have the house up 4 $ also. Trying to get down to Arizona before winter. Doing this hobby on a retired income & a part time job. is not easy. I; mean the chevelle isn't a rat rod or anything. But it needs stuff. being a man. I want it NOW! But Its impossibable rightnow. So sometimes I FEEL like giving up . Sell the truck , The Chevelle. And just get a new car. Say f&^% IT. Am I the only one that gets that bad a case of the blues???

Rick,

I think we all feel like this at one time or another, just gotta stick with it. It took us 12 years to save the cash to rework our chevelle. Hope things work out for ya.

Like Mike said, you're not the only one. My car is in serious need of a paint job too, but at least I don't have to worry about another stone chip or being caught in the rain. I can take it out and beat the crap out of it. I've learned to enjoy it and not worry about trying to make it perfect. Sure I want to make it better than it is but I can only do so much. So I do a little here and a little there. Each little thing makes me feel better about it.

I think we all get the blues, especially when it keeps raining and raining. I'm like you I want to get thing done now and since my wife is not working out side of the home right now we have had to tighten the belt alot. Hang in there things always seem better when the sun comes out.

Rick,

Keep your chin up.
Last year I had to sell my 65 after taking a large paycut and a reduction in hours.
I did it to avoid Bankruptcy but it was just a bandaid on a breaking dam.
I still had to file and now that I was hoping to get back on my feet, my lender on a home equity loan is threatening to raise my interest rate. Never been late with a payment to them, just the fact that I filed for BK.

At least you still have your car and other stuff.
I also thought I would be able to buy another Chevelle this year and a friend has one that is all set up less engine for a killer price but if my interest goes up on my 2nd I won't have any $$$ to buy it with.
I have been without my passion for over a year now.
HotRodding is what I do (did) for enjoyment. I'm not married, don't have any kids, not a party hound, so the ONLY thing I had in my life that gave me reason to smile is gone and I have no idea when or how to get it back.

I would take a different job if I could find one, but those I have applied for I am competing with 4-500 other people many with high degrees in IT, computer programming, software development. system analysts etc.
When I got into computers I was 40 yrs old and am self taught so I cannot compete with these folks with BA's, PHD's etc.

Before computers I had a great job made a ton of money but gave it up to take care of my mother full time until she passed away in 98.

When I re-entered the job market I could not get a management job because of a 5 year lapse in employment even though my resume reflected the fact that the lapse was due to taking care of my mom.

So, take a deep breath and when you think you got it bad, come read my post. It should make you feel a LOT better.

Carl, you should be proud of yourself for giving it all up to take care of your mom.You sir are a better man than I. Rick,we all get the blues ,some more than others and I get my share. I have come to realize as of late how spoiled I am and if things aren't perfect in Gary's world, I really get pissed as most of you know.Hey Rick,I understand about wanting things now,but be patient about your 70.

Hey all. Thanks for them words. After cutting the lawn. Which takes the better part of 2 hrs. Then taking it to the dump. I got out of my bad mood. The Sun was out. Kind of humid But Sunny. The 3rd day this month that it was dry. On the way back from the dump. I heard this Great sound. It was a Chevelle Malibu coming up behind my truck as I pulled back into my driveway. WELL HELL. That did it. I cleaned her up. Ran in the house took a cool shower. Then went to get some 92 octane in her. Thats all I needed. I met 4 others from out club for a dinner meeting. Which earlier I wasn't going to go to. That was the best thing I could have done. On the way back. A fellow member & I played around with the cars. Then he split off. I slowed her down & just cruzed home. Got a few thumbs up by other guys. Man that sure did changed my MOOD around. I want to thank you guys for the coments you posted. Sometimes things look real bad. Till you put yourself in other guys shoes. Thanks Carl. Your the MAN. Should be more guys like you out there. Rick. Thanks Gary & others that posted. You helped a fellow member see the light again...................

Rick, if you really want to be cheered up, come down to the autocross in Winona this Sunday, and I'll let you drive my car.
