I'm that guy passing you... and you won't see me in the ditch up ahead, because I'm riding on Bridgestone Blizzaks.

I was surprised today to get on a local e-way heading into downtown. There was still so much ice and snow on the road. Really snow plow guys? It was unbelieveable. There was ice in 3 of the 4 lanes, the exit ramps were not plowed, and people were driving way too fast. A 20 minute trip took over an hour, and that was not even in rush hour.

TireRack.com has good sales on their snow tires in the spring... I think it was April last year they were doing $100 off + free shipping for a set of 4.

You won't regret getting them (or any snow tire). I picked up my Blizzaks cheap (used, $50 for all 4) and this was my first winter driving on snow tires... couldn't believe the difference, and I'll NEVER go back to driving on all seasons in the winter. After one snowfall with mine, I ordered a set of snow tires for my wife's car too (Firestone Winterforce... just as good in snow, but not as good on ice... 2/3 the price)

I have become somewhat of a "tire snob" from the experience.

I think as we get older we appreciate the difference in tires as we drive on the road. When we are younger we are just happy if they hold air.

We have Michelin X-ICE winter tires on my wifes 06 Chrysler 300C rearwheel drive. Awesome tires! She loves them. I have Cooper Discover M&S (mud & snow) on my 2000 Z71 Silverado. They work great!

I have the same tires on my Z71 Brian. I've pushed snow with the bumpers on that truck. If it get's worse than that I just stay home. I work from home so unless I have a Dr or Dentist appt. I don't have to go out in the deep snow. Isn't much I can't live without until they plow the roads so I don't have to deal with the crazies.
