I think that each and every person should build their car the way that they want it. I myself have the car I wanted, painted the way I want it, engine the way I want it, suspension the way I want it and only one marker on my car. grandsport, on the other hand, wants and has a "correct" Chevelle SS, and it is absolutely beautiful !
Is my car less beautiful than his ?(well, yes, of course it is because he is meticulous about everything on his car) I think that you should do to your car....what you want to do....and what you like. Don't let anyone else judge you for how you do it. So put what ever you want on your car. And enjoy it !

At shows, people WILL judge you... but you're doing what YOU want, and probably having more fun than they are.

Seriously Derek? It must be fun since so many people enjoy tearing someone else's car apart. Usually those those that don't have a classic car.

First off, thanks again for the comments Nancy. And yes you should do what makes you happy with your car because that's what it is all about. But a word of caution if you go all out and expect to come out of a clone or resto mod,it ain't gonna happen.I follow the collector market pretty closely, and the personal built cars usually bring 30-35 cents on the dollar.Saw it for 3 days at the RM Auction America.

You have a very nice looking 71. Alot of people put SS badges on their cars, but then do nothing to them to make look correct. As long as you have a sweep dash I would not put SS badges on it, just a dead give away that it is not an SS. I enjoy the malibu look just as much as the SS look. Do what you want it is your car. I stoped worrying about what others though about my car a long time ago because I want to enjoy the car. I agree with Hank the people who speak the loudest are the ones who don't own a classic car.

Modifications of any kind are always going to be hated by some, and loved by others. There's things I don't even like about mine anymore, as my tastes have changed over the years. I was in high-school when I painted it... if I were to do it over again, I would have kept it a factory color, and not put any stripes on it.

I like them all so its your car ,do it your way ,whatever that may be . I never judge what someone else does to their car as long as its tasteful (not donked) as they are all welcome .
