For you Nancy,a story of a dog named Avis.

This dog came into my life about 5 years ago.With my wife and daughter into breeding and showing dogs,there was always someone new running around,and I paid no mind to them.This one little,ugly runt was staying a little too long and I asked what was going on.Maureen told me she was getting the dog socialized at our place and she will go back to the owner in 6 months. Dummy that I am,I believed her. Well this little runt became friends with MY Collie Mercedes,and I accepted her and started calling her Avis the rental dog.Turns out the dog was a gift to Lindsay from a famous breeder and she was staying.Never really cared for her,but she was always with my Collie.Fast foward to May 13th 2009 when I came home from having to put my Mercedes to sleep,the rental dog who I never really cared for knew we both lost our best friend.She bonded with me that night,and has been at my side since,my new best bud.BTW,that ugly runt turned out to be a beautiful show winner.

Thanks for the history Gary. At first I thought the name was a little strange, but then again you are a car salesman. But after hearing the story, I think the name Avis couldn't be more perfect. I am so happy that you ultimately bonded and are best friends now.

A few of our dogs have car names.Grandsport was Lindsays first show dog.Mercedes who is gone to be with Grandsport.Still at home are AvisMalibu Lexus, Healey and Roadmaster.
