Default Wish I could do something

There is a good size buck in the neighborhood with a blue plastic pail hooked on his antlers. We got a flyer in our mailbox from a neighbor about him. Said the DNR does not want to do anything unless he goes down on his own due to stress. He's been roaming around by himself for a few weeks, I guess the other deer don't like blue plastic.

He's out back right now, can't really get a pic, he's in the trees and will probably bolt if I try to get close enough. He looks to be healthy enough so I don't think the pail is keeping him from eating. Guess he'll dump the pail when he sheds his antlers and hopefully be okay.

You have to feel for the deer. My oldest daughter is here, from Las Vegas and she said "Poor Deer, he probably ain't getting any with the blue bucket on his head". Kids say the darndest things, by the way she is 27.

I'd pay to see you out back chasing that buck down trying to get the bucket off his head....with your luck he'd charge you and gore your pelvis on the other side.

He kept hanging around, I think the neighbors behind us put some corn out. I was able to put the telephoto lens on and get a couple of shots. He seemed to be able to eat the corn okay and hung around quite awhile.

He sure would look good in my freezer but that would be too easy. I bet he will get it off when he gets agravated enough with it .He looks quite healthy .I love watching the deer around my house and a co-worker likes shooting them for me for my freezer so we both win.

That's a first for me to see. You are right he will lose it when he sheds his antlers in a few months if it doesn't come off first.

First time that buck locks horns with one of his competors ( trying to "get some"!) that bucket with become dislodged ... its the one that runs around here with a arrow stuck in it that I have compassion for....

.... btw, feeding the deer is usually considered a no-no .... screws up the digestive system, your neighbor isnt doing it any favors.
