I really enjoy the time off. Feels so good to be away from work for a while.

I am glad that a lot of people are able to take some time off through the holidays. I am just happy when they are over and all the craziness is done. Not to say I don't enjoy some of it, I just want my "normal" back.

I enjoy the time off and visits with our extended car family ,my wifes family and our foster boys but I dont care for all the mass marketing of a once great holiday. I wish we could go back to simple small gifts from the heart and the real meaning of Christmas.

It's nice to get back to our normal level of insanity here but we did have a nice Christmas. Our daughter Susan was here from the 17th through the 29th, first time in 4 years she's been able to spend Christmas day with us.

She had a break from school at Thanksgiving and was able to work, then spent way too much money on Christmas. She bought tickets online and took Lynda to a cirque (sp?) show at the Fox Theater. Then they went to see the musical Wicked at the Detroit Opera House. Then she took all 4 of us to a Red Wings game last Tuesday. We had some relatives over for Christmas dinner. Went out to dinner for my son's birthday last Monday.

Our son started a new job the beginning of December, Monday through Friday, so he was able to be here Christmas eve and Christmas day. He also got the 26th off for the holiday.

Went to a small get together at the neighbors house last night, didn't get home until 1 AM. It's been a busy couple of weeks but it was a nice couple of weeks too.

I love the Christmas season as Joan and I were married many years ago just before Christmas but wish things were more simple .There's so much to do and see in such a short time and so many events to go to but can only do a few. Anyway Happy New Year everyone.

Congrats flash.

So Gary, how many years for you and Maureen ?

On a lighter note. I think that his family is surprised that David and I are still together, and that we haven't killed each other. lol
