We are talking two issues here? Credit buying and honoring commitments?LOL

Shawn, Tony put it in better wording than I but like I said earlier ... you should not make yourself the victim in this transaction ... you have the deposit (that was a smart move, and common) so simply find another buyer ... and move on. Its simply business .... you didnt lie, you didnt cheat and if the buyer really wants the engine then he can find the money elsewhere .... lesson learned!

The unfortunate thing here is that this transaction was between two people who both had the right intentions. And due to circumstances both people are disappointed. I know some of you have not said to give back the deposit, but I will ask Shaun, what is your gut telling you to do ?

Did you ever relist the parts? Selling them individually or altogether? Btw, a non-refundable deposit is just that. Grownups have to weigh circumstances before buying toys. In my early 20's, got into ALL kinds of credit card debt. Now I don't buy unless the money is all there and it won't be needed elsewhere. Thats why my 8 month build is now into its fifth year!

May be interested in a shortblock, if its ready to go. BTW a guy on my mustang site put a deposit on a car, couldn't buy it, reposted the guys car for sale for a lower price that included his own deposit! Kinda same deal, his wife said no more cars.
