Default Detroit Tigers are going to the World Series.

Even though the game was "rain delayed" yesterday. The Tigers pulled it out and are on their way to the World Series !

I am not usually a huge Baseball fan, but this team has heart. Besides we need something positive out of the city of Detroit.

Yes and we swept the series with the great New York Yankees which is even better than the world series. Tonight score 8-1 Tigers

The owner is so old! I thought he was gonna collapse when he was up there. Just glad the yankees are out at this point.

Ya, Mike Ilitch was looking pretty rough. Too bad because he has been great for the city of Detroit and Detroit sports in particular. He also owns the Red Wings and turned them into the dynasty they are today.

A little Detroit sports trivia. Mike Ilitch, owner of Little Caesars Pizza always wanted to own the Tigers. When they became available years ago Tom Monaghan, owner of Dominos Pizza bought them before Ilitch could. So Ilitch turned his attentions to the Red Wings and finally purchased them. Pete Karmanos, owner of Compuware, was also interested in purchasing the Red Wings. The Greeks have always been big supporters of hockey, think the old Olympia stadium in Detroit.

Anyway Ilitch got the Red Wings and turned them around. Karmanos purchased the Carolina Hurricanes. Monaghan fumbled with the Tigers for a number of years and finally sold them to Ilitch who has turned them around too.

GO TIGERS!

My daughter Lacie lives just outside New York. I guess she was in a sports bar last night and was not popular at all. She was rooting for the Tigers, and the New York fans were not happy. But she said she had a blast doing it.
