307 engine

I know I put a bigger cam in a stock 307 at some point. If I recall, I threw the timing chain and upon tear down, found all kinds of damage. I about wore out my spare parts pile to get it running again. I think the cam I had was around the .460" lift range. It sounded ok, but didn't have much of a lope to it. The .488 cam had a slight lope to it. That was in a 327 though. That .46-something cam, dual plane Edelbrock intake, 600 Holley and a set headers really woke up that old boat anchor. The thing to keep in mind is don't over build the engine. The cam is about THE MOST important component in the entire car. EVERY PART from there to the back bumper have to be matched.
