Default Do you have a sibling that just ticks you off ?

I have a younger sister who is just so frustrating. She is the youngest of 6 kids and over the years she has taken advantage of it. At one point I lent her an Escort that I had and she blew the clutch and brought it back without even telling me. She never really had a good job, or at least a job that she could support herself so she lived with my mother. My mother decided that she wanted to buy a house. At the time, she didn't want my younger sister to go with her, nor did she want her to be homeless so my mom decided to give her the trailer. Now this thing was in nice shape and had all newer appliances, which my mom left, as well as most of the furniture. My sister destroyed the place in less than 2 yrs and when she was done got $500 for it, and pocketed the money.

From there she lived with a guy, had his baby and then found herself homeless. So guess what, my mom bought her another trailer. My sister complained that she lived so far away (which was great) and was having problems finding someone to watch her son (who is a nightmare). So my mom felt she needed to help and started watching her son.

Fast forward a couple of years, over which I have personally bought her a car, my brother has helped her with cars and she has used everyone of us to the point that we wouldn't answer the phone if she called. My sister is again living with my mother, and my mother is paying all the bills and raising my sister's son, while my 40 yr old sister is working as a food sampler at a warehouse store.

Yesterday, my sister posts that her car has died. Now my mother has a 2006 Saturn View that has less than 20,000 miles on it, and we all know that she is going to get my mom to let her drive it, and destroy it. My moms View still has the new car smell, she changes the oil every 3 months no matter what, every 2 yrs she has replaced the tires, my mom is anal when it comes to her cars. I asked my sister if she has any leads on a car, she was put off, she said I still don't know what I am going to do with the old one. If it was me, I would have been on the computer searching out a car, wouldn't you be ?

It doesn't end there. Today this same sister, posted on FB, didn't call anyone, not even my brother, that "Mom's house has no Heat" and it is 10 degrees outside. WHAT ? You didn't even think to call your mechanic brother who has just rebuilt his whole house. NO, cause she wants to control everything that my mother does. The service tech got her heat on, but told her that she needs to replace her furnace. I talked to my brother and he is going to get ahold of one of his heating and cooling friends and we are going to see what we can do to help out mom.

I am sorry that you have to read this. I just don't know what to do. My mom is my best friend, but she doesn't see how she is being used so badly. UGH !!!! I am just so frustrated.

I know how you feel Nancy. One of my brothers is a no good unreliable drunk who recently divorced his wife and left his 7 kids. He's so frustrating, can never keep a job, drinks to much, and never pays any child support. Worst of all is that he moved back in with my mom and she's been on vacation and he just drives around in her Subaru because he crashed and totaled his Ford expedition last year drunk driving. And this is an over 40 year old man! He did pick me up last week though to take me to the hospital for a shot I was getting for my back but the only reason is because he had her car and it was the am so he was sober. He did hook Up with this one bad gf too last year that ended up stabbing him in the neck last year! She was crazy but lived in a milliondollar house on the water and i guess he wanted to try living the dream and leave his family behind. My father was a boston cop and he would never approve any of his wrong choices now. I'm glad I have normal sisters and one normal bro.

Im the youngest of 4 ,2 older brothers and an older sister ,thankfully Ive been disowned by them and my mom. My mom is so gullable and covers for my drunk and addict brother and the others got mad at me because I wont HELP him anymore .I finally told them he needed to learn to help himself instead of getting handouts from me.

The past few years David and I have talked about moving. But he knows that the only reason that I stay here in Michigan is because of my mom. I have other siblings that feel the same way as I do, but I am the only one with balls enough to step up and say something.

Ironically enough, I have been talking with my mom about her will. I have been thru the passing of David's mother and grandmothers with no will, and I told her about what a nightmare it was dealing with his sister and brother saying "mom wanted me to have this". So in my conversations with my mom, she asked me if I wanted her condo, it is free and clear and she wanted me to have it. Funny isn't it, she doesn't want to give it to the daughter who is living with her. I don't want my mom to go anywhere, anytime soon. I just can't leave my mom, even though it would be nice to be closer to my older children.

Wow. That is crazy, oh, maybe I shouldn't have said that.

How do you handle it ? Do you just not see her siblings ?

I used to miss having a relationship with my family but I finally decided that if that is the way they want it so be it .They are the ones missing out on all the goings on in my life and Im enjoying the freedom of it .They dont know about our 8 Foster boys (yes we are now up to 8 now) and all the heart aches and joys that they bring .I may not have the blood family anymore but I got family .
