I've been anxiously awaiting for the new TS store to open in Davison, a few miles from where I live. The wife and I went there this morning to have a look around. Every stinking thing that I looked at, tools, fittings, hardware. paint, tie-straps, auto parts, steel, and so on is made somewhere other than the USA. China, Thiland, Korea. Pitiful, I tell ya, pitiful.

It really stinks when something like that happens. I know the economy stinks, but I would pay more to buy American parts. I don't care how convenient a store is, I will go out of my way to support the American workers.

Not much is manufactured in the US anymore, plus it seems like no one wants to do manual labor anymore. Seems like most people want to sit behind a desk and text or surf the net. Can't tell how many guys I have at work that can't put there cell phones down all day.

Today's headlines, about US jobs
Technology is letting businesses cut costs and make humans expendable. Businesses are cutting costs wherever they can. Outsourcing jobs overseas where operation costs are lower is just one example. However, the proliferation of new technology is changing the landscape of America’s job market. Automation is yet another fast-growing method of cutting costs, as these technological advances become cheaper and easier to implement — replacing jobs previously held by humans

While low-paying factory type work might be replaced by machines, higher paying specialized jobs are created, and when machines are doing the work, it no longer makes it cheaper to put the factory in a 3rd world country, halfway around the globe, because the machines cost the same to run here as they do there. (taxes and regulations excluded...)

We're between 2 TSCs, less than 10 miles to either one. Just as you described Tony. Bins with junk tools and a lots of other junk. You can find some items that you can't get in other stores but for the most part, junk.
