I'm a contract surveyor, but this week I have been driving high voltage power lines checking for problems along the lines. My work happens almost no matter what the weather is. Roads have been icy from the fog, but not untravelable. GPS allows me to do my work no matter what the weather is. I stay home if it is unsafe to travel.

Yea, we could have been doing all kinds of guy stuff. Working on cars, drinking beer, shooting guns, drinking beer and telling lies.

I hope you guys are OK. It sure seems like the ice here in Michigan, can be paper thin and more dangerous that it is when it is inches thick. I was at my sisters house out near Oxford last night. She lives near a nature preserve and the roads leading back to her house are all dirt roads. When we got to her house around 1 pm, the roads were muddy in spots and thick ice in others. When we left about 7pm, it was all pretty slippery, and there are no barriers on the side of the roads, the road just drops off in spots. It was a little hairy when a vehicle was passing you, but the AWD on the van really helped.

I am not looking forward to more snow and ice, especially on New Years eve and New Years day. Especially since my daughter will be bartending about 15 miles from her house.

Sounds like interesting work. I assume that you travel a lot. I've been dealing with the surveyors down there in Florida.

I know the time did get away from me. I was planning on calling Hank and making a trip over...but life and laziness got in the way. Maybe when you get back from Florida we can set something up.
