You're a lucky guy Gary. You have a beautiful car and you enjoy it. That's what the hobby is about, an appreciation and enjoyment of these cars.

I like to do as much on my car as I can also. But I also realize there are others who can do it far better then me and I feel honored if they are willing to help me out, I agree with Dave who cares what others think. You have a great looking car enjoy it. I find people on this site far more friendly and encouraging then other site. Thanks everyone for your kind words.

I know Gary, and know that he knows cars. I didn't know he was an autocrosser, but it doesn't surprise me.

After reading this thread, and finding "that" one, I don't think it was bad as it seems. Just one guy, and he kind of went off the deep end a little about it.

I know LOTS of guys, especially at TC, that want nothing but STOCK. When it comes to Gary and his Chevelle, how is he any different? Whoopee if he can't tell you the measured piston to valve clearance of #7, in thousandths of an inch...

Thanks,Jake. While I'm thinking of autocross, one of the coolest things for me was designing a 2 mile course through the streets of my home town,Latrobe. Try going to a city council and proposing that idea today, they would laugh you out the door. What a great time that was but I blew that race, talk about pressure!-was my downfall.

Gary ,Im a tinkerer and do my own maintenance kind of guy. I have a shop full of cars and tools (my own) that are all paid for and I enjoy doing the things that I can myself. There are many things I wish I knew how to do ,but anytrhing major I leave to the pros. I would rather spend my time driving and enjoying other things than repairing cars . If they want to consider us investers so be it ,I have fun my way .Often times even if I can do some things I have someone else do simply for convenience . I dont have the patience for a numbers type car that I would be afraid to drive. You would be surprised how many trophy cars go from trailer to showfield to trailer and never really get driven. My cars are built for driving just like General Motors intended and dont have to be perfect. Some people are just not as good at working on these things as others are and I fit that catagory. As long as you enjoy your ride it shouldnt matter how you got there.

Gary,
I have loved older cars since I was a little girl climbing under the cars with my dad in our garage. I remember talking with him about how he was going to help me get my first car when I grew up. My dad died when I was 9 years old, but my love of old cars never has.

I never had anyone to teach me the right way to do alot of things, or even how to do many things to a car. I was lucky enough to have a brother who has a passion for cars and has been willing to help me with mine.

Is that wrong to ask for help? No it's not. For me, and my family ,it is our way to enjoy and appreciate my Chevelle.
