Yesterday I was out with my son and happened to see Larry, he is the owner of 2 local A & W drive in restaurants. Larry has "cruises" every week at both local locations. I asked him if he was ready for this weekend. He said that for him it is a love/hate relationship. He loves the cars, but he hates the fact that he has never been able to attend the actual WWDD because he is working.
A few years ago I managed a business on Woodward and I can agree, to a small degree, what Larry said. I loved the cars and the fact that I was able to provide parking spots to friends, family, regular customers as well as my own car, at NO CHARGE. I would work half the day and then sit in front of my store for the rest. I would miss alot working that half day, but it was the price I had to pay for working where I did. Alot of businesses don't like the cruise, alot of them do. It has been a huge debate for many years. Is the Dream Cruise nostalgia or nuisance? You decide. http://www.myfoxdetroit.com/dpp/news...giant-headache
