Default Winter Sucks

We got about 8" of snow yesterday and last night and are now getting sleet and freezing rain on top of that .Snow sux bad enough but ice on top of that makes it very dangerous .I got my tractor out and scraped the driveway (800 ft) up to the road and its still slick. The county just has brought a motorgrader out and scraped off all but 2" of ice off the roads .Looks like another day off tomorrow (without pay this time) as they have asked the maintenance dept to be there .I live the closest to campus than the other guys but Im not risking wrecking my junker just for a day of work. Did I mention I HATE WINTER AND SNOW.

We expect the snow and ice here. But it has been pretty mellow other than one snow storm. This last week I had to drive to Chicago and back. When we were driving back on Friday afternoon we came across a few total white outs while in the snow belt passing under the lake, the worst part was sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for 18 miles, when we were only an hour from home.

I have driven to Chicago in under 5 hours in nice weather. This last trip home took over 7.

I don't necessarily mind the snow, I know it's a fact of life living where I do. I just hate the STUPID DRIVERS in the snow.

I know it doesn't make much sense down there, but since putting Bridgestone Blizzaks on my car, I don't mind the snow & ice quite so much. (except now I get really impatient with the traffic that can't go as fast as I'd like to go... they're still slipping around, but I'm not)

The temps have been pretty cold but not that much snow here. A few inches last week, then a couple more a few days later, then 4 or 5 inches Friday. We actually got quite a bit of lake effect snow even though we're a long ways from Lake Michigan. Overall though not too bad, so far.

Is it winter? First time in years that I really don't mind.

This is a new one to me .... we have been hit with a few accidents caused by fog that freezes and goes to black ice . Usually its the usual rain or snow that brings on the ice.

Cold tonight and tomorrow with a chance of light snow, but warming to mid 50's by Wednesday afternoon. That just means lots of rain on the way.

I would love to have rain instead of this snow and ice crap.

Fear not, winter will be half-way over new week .... I know this because my firewood stack will be half burnt next week!

Looks like we are going to dodge the snow today. Warming into the high 40's
