In looking at Christmas gifts I noticed a few things I got were made in the good old USA. I thought we could do our own part and start listing things we wouldn't think are made in the USA so we can support these companies who chose to stay in US. Here are two things I got that surprised me and I'll make sure when I need new tennis shoes and or mats this is what I'll buy.
New Balance tennis shoes http://www.newbalance.com/ Lloyd's floor mats http://www.lloydmats.com/ On the negative I got the Camaro forty year book that was printed in China, who would have thought.

I did most of my Christmas shopping from this list:http://www.stillmadeinusa.com/
I found all kinds of neat stuff there. The only thing that I couldn't find made in the USA was a set of binoculars for Kathy. |

I like to try to as much as possible to buy things that are made in the USA. I have a sister who was a Union Electrician, lost her job, and is now the head of the electrical department at a Home Depot. She used to refuse gifts that were not made in the USA.

I didn't know about the mats being made here. The New Balance shoes are about the only sneakers made here but not all of them. I think like 25% or maybe 15% of their shoes are made here, the rest in China. So you have to look at the box or shoe to be sure.

This thread got me to thinking about all the crap that we buy for the kids. We went shopping at Gibralter Trade Center today, a big indoor flea market. We went cause they had a gun and knife show that grumpy wanted to go to. As we were going through there I just kept picking up things that said "Made in China". I don't think that I picked up one thing that was made in the USA. How frustrating ! And to think that this place was full of people, spending their money to buy all this crap. Like I said, this thread made me think.

I understand Ms. I despise buying anything that isn't made here. From that list that I posted, I bought my grandson some American made wooden trucks. They are his favorite toy so far. I found a wooden puzzle, 2 dresses for the granddaughter, a small plant that has an I love you bean, some very nice blanket roll-ups, even some doll clothes. I found a handmade jewelry box too. If people would just try, they could find many things still made here. It took a little time and effort, but Christmas here was almost 100% USA stuff. Just for the hell of it, anyone reading this post take a look at the list I posted. There has to be something that you need on the list.

David and I were talking about this thread and he asked if I posted a link to one of our other sites, politicalchat.org. The thread is a long one, but there are a lot of items/companies that are "Made in the USA". So here is the link.
