Default Does one ever outgrow the desire to do burnouts?

I'm getting up in years, but from the days of my 73 Z/28 until today I still enjoy doing burnouts. The Mustang has only put fuel on the fire,as I really enjoy getting a red light now.Maureen and my neighbors just shake their heads.Do I need counseling?

When I read the title of this post I just smiled. I kinda figured that you had done a burnout with the Mustang within a day or two of getting it.

As far as your question...Hell No ! I think from the first time that I did a burnout in a '69 charger, I was hooked. Every car that I have ever owned I have either done, or tried to do a burnout (those front wheel drive vehicles can be a bitch to do one in).

I love the month of August around here. Everyone is getting ready for the Woodward Dream Cruise and you see every make and model of car with the young and old driving them. We pull up a lawn chair on the side of the road and just sit and watch. It is funny watching the young guys trying to do a burnout (those are the ones you really need to watch out for cause they are all over the road). Now I will say that the older crowd does do a much better burn out. I think it is from all the years of practice.

Personally, I think a burnout is a must. Don't we have to make sure that everything is working properly ?

What do you mean, within a day or two? Me and Linds did one pulling out of the dealership after I signed the papers.

Well Gary if you think you have a problem, Hank, Tony and myself are with you with Tony being our leader, his driveway looks like a dragstrip burnout box and he is lucky his brakes are as good as they are or he would end up in going through his back garage. I haven't see Ray do one yet with his Chevelle but I have heard he has.

My neighbor had a new apron poured for his driveway. A few months later I backed into his drive and put 2 nice black streaks down it. He came over the next day laughing his ass off. He knew I did it and I knew he'd be okay with it. Tony is a wild man, good thing his cars are put together well, although he has grenaded a few rear ends. I think he uses it as an excuse to upgrade, if it won't handle a 5,500 rpm hole shot then it needs to go.

BTW, Gary you do not counseling but that has nothing to do with the burnouts.
