Default Back To The Bricks

Perfect day at Back To The Bricks. 80, not a cloud in the sky. Don't know the official count but I would guess close to 1000 cars. Hard to tell, a lot are parked off of Saginaw on the sides streets. Flint does a nice job, a lot nicer than the cities that 'host' the Dream Cruise. We drove up with our neighbor Darryl and his wife Vickie. Spent the day looking at the cars with them and Brian Henderson. He brought his Nickey Camaro. That is one awesome, wicked car. It sounds, well you just have to hear it. Very nice Brian, good seeing you again.

Ric, thanks for getting the spot for us and thanks to you and Mike for getting up so early to hold it. Hope to see you at Baker's tomorrow, didn't get a chance to see you much today.

Thanks Hank for the kind words. I had an awesome time. I was blown away by the shear number of cars. Something there to suit any ones taste. I can't wait till next year! It was great to see you, Henry and Linda again! It was great to see you and your wife Tony! Wished we would of had the time to talk more.

Hey Ric, I echo what Hank said! Thanks a bunch for everything.

Good to see all of you guys. Brians car sounds wicked. Hank's car looks real good. Nice work Hank. Ric's Chevelle still looks good to. We left around noon. It was too crowded for me. I didn't get all the way South on the main street or get down all the side streets. I'm glad I didn't take a car down. I would have had to stay all day!

We made it from one end of main street to the other, didn't hit all the side streets though. Nice seeing Tony and Kathy, Ric, Brian. Darryl and Vickie had a good time, glad there was room so they could join us.

Didn't get the Chevelle out much this summer. Windows out, crappy weather, and stuff so yesterday was great, now I can't wait for Frankenmuth.

Sounds like you guys had a great time. Better than most of the daily drivers on Woodward on Saturday.

That's why we go to Back to the Bricks instead of the Dream Cruise.

Glad you all had fun, Back to Bricks is one of my favorite shows and glad to get those same spots for the last 5 years. The unofficial count was almost 5 thousand cars downtown with about 600 being Corvettes for the 60 year celebration....in case you don't Corvettes we're first mfg in Flint. One of my friends was a judge for the Corvette get together and they gave out 400 trophy's ...funny thing is he does not even like Corvettes.

Also the Buick club had about 500 members over on Water Street for the dedication of Facory One the first GM plant and office building for GM Execs from the early 1900's

It was really cool that they had the salute to our troops with the honor guard marching down Main street and the the induction of the group of young men and women doing their swearing in before all of us. The fly over of the B-52 and the WWII fighters was cool.

Hank as you tell I did not make it to Bakers on Sunday, we decided to head up north a day early as we are on vacation this week.

Thanks Rick for letting me join you guys. Had a great time! Hope to do it again next year! By the way, how far north were you planning to go? Carol and I are currently spending our last night on Mackinac Island for her birthday. We'll be heading home on Wed. Had an awesome time! Enjoy your vacation!

Wow Ric. Sounds like it was really neat at Back to the Bricks. I stayed in town because of my son. He had asked me if I would take him out on Woodward in the morning. I ended up making a few trips with my kids and their friends. Some of the kids parents had never allowed them to go out to Woodward. But once they found out that they would be with me, it was OK. (I guess I might be a decent parent)

I also took my daughter Lacie out on Woodward, it was actually her first time riding in my car out there. She always seemed to work during the cruise. I ended up going thru about 3/4 a tank and didn't really drive that far...lol

I would say the best part was when I was out with my son about 7pm. There was a kid who had a gallon jug of water and was laying it out in the street to try to get people to do a burn out. The three cars in front of me he asked, then when I got close to his spot, the people in back of him told him not to ask me. Well, let's just say I got on it a little, and left a little smoke and squawked the tires. The crowd went crazy and my son loved it.

Not parking on Woodward, and driving it on and off all day, made me realize how much I don't actually like being out there on Saturday. And how much I like the days leading up to it so much better. So next year....remind me of this post so I can head up to Flint. lol
