Default E-mails lost..HELP?

My computer was acting stupid. It was stuck, nothing would work. I think the technical term is "froze up". I had my outlook express open at the time. I held down the power button until it shut the computer off. I forced the stinkin thing to shut off. When I restarted it, all of my inbox e-mails were gone. Poof...all gone. I can't find them. Any clues as to where they went? Any instructions how to get them back? Thanks.

Tony, You could try a system restore, which allows you go go back to a different point in time to when everything was ok. It should be under programs, accessories, system tools, then system restore.

If using XP:

Thanks Mike. I tried a restore earlier, but the computer said it couldn't be restored to the date that I picked. I tried to restore it to a week earlier. In fact, the few times that I have tried to restore, it always says that. It's like it won't go back in time at all.

That is likely the case then. This computer is about 6 years old and it has been acting up lately. Now all I gotta do is figure out how to back-up my stuff. Thanks. I appreciate you guys help.

Tony, that is the reason I do not use outlook or outlook express. Leave the messages stored on your service providers server or else create gmail (google) or ymail (yahoo) account. This way no matter where you are, you can access your email.

It's a longshot, but this might help:

Did you look in the deleted folder? I'm not a fan of Outlook Express but you can set it up to leave a copy of your email on the server. Only goes away when you delete it. I use Windows Live mail, very much like Outlook Express. A copy stays on the server so I can go to another PC and still read my email. When you delete it it goes to deleted items but doesn't go away until you empty the deleted folder.

Who is your internet provider? Do they have web access to email instead of using Outlook Express. You may be able to get at them that way.

I have backup drive you can use to dump all your stuff to if you want. It's just sitting upstairs, hasn't been used in months.
