I have one brother. We get along ok. My sister in law, on the other hand.....

I haven't seen or talked to my brother in about 6 years. I get little updates from my parents, but that's it. I bet my niece and nephew are big by now. I wouldn't know.

How do you handle it ? Do you just not see her siblings ?
I try not to and they aren't ever invited to any of our parties, just my family and friends but 4 of the sisters love in Boston so that's good and far and the other Wacko one is in cape cod and hasn't gone up to Boston to see her elderly mother in years but then calls her everyday and tells her about her own problems. She's 86 and starting to get Alzheimer's and has really bad nightmares now so all the family or should I say most stay every night up there just to make sure she's all right. She comes here a whole week every 2 weeks and my wife goes up there every week just to keep her company because the sisters that live in the same town can't. It really pisses her off because she is getting to point where her mother needs to be watched all the time and my wife has been always keeping her company for her whole life while now she's been diagnosed with Alzheimer's some have stepped up to the plate more than others and slept with her overnight.

Jay my heart goes out to you. My mom may not have Alzheimer's but I see her slipping away a little bit every time I see her.

Found out yesterday that mom had her furnace, dehumidifier, some duct work and ac unit replaced. My brother did some research for her and found out that furnace was over 20yrs old, AC unit was too small for her condo and was probably overworked. And after talking to a heating a cooling friend, mom got a pretty good deal from a reputable company. Sigh of relief, but then again, mom didn't need this bill. Sister still is not looking for a car.
